WHAT: Protest the Nerger Tiger and Lion Show at the Champlain Valley Fair
WHERE: Champlain Valley Fair West Entrace, Pearl Street (Rte. 15), Essex Junction, VT

TIME: 11AM - 1PM

Despite protests and the cancellation of its sponsorship last year, the Nerger Lion and Tiger Show is returning to the Champlain Valley Fair this year. The owners of this show, Hawthorne Corporation, have been cited many times for abuses and inhumane treatment of their animals, amassing a whopping $272,500 in fines for violations of the federal Animal Welfare Act. Compassionate people know that these big cats who have evolved for pack-living in wide open territories should not be separated from their natural family members and confined in cages measuring 6’8” wide by 7’3” long by 4” high! Please show your support for these animals and all animals confined to life in the entertainment field by attending this protest. We plan to be non-disruptive and won't interfere with traffic or pedestrians who want to attend the Fair. But we will have a large banner and invite you to bring your own signs. The message is that circus shows are cruel and threats to public safety.

You can also contact the Essex Selectboard to tell them that you are strongly against using animals as entertainment at the Champlain Valley Fair. If you live in Essex, this is especially important. Names and contact information can be found on the www.expocruelty.com website.
